Seven Seas Food Festival Celebrates Latin Beats & Eats at SeaWorld Orlando

If you haven’t been to the Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld Orlando – now is the perfect time to visit the park and enjoy even more delicious flavors and Latin pop and merengue concerts! For the last 4 weeks, until May 14, SeaWorld Orlando combined, what used to be known as Viva La Musica Festival with the Seven Seas Festival into one amazing event!

With Hector Colon, SeaWorld’s Executive Chef at the helm – everything was so delicious!!

The brand new menu items are:

  • Churrasco – Skirt steak marinated in house-made chimichurri, then grilled over an open flame
  • Lechón Asado – Traditional, roasted pork rubbed with Caribbean seasonings
  • Pincho con Tostones – Skewered, flame-grilled chicken or pork with a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce and served with fried plantains
  • Tripleta Sandwich – roast pork, chicken, steak and cheese, served with potato sticks and SeaWorld’s special sauce on a fresh baguette
  • Empanadilla de Pizza – Pastry filled with mozzarella cheese and zesty tomato sauce
  • Empanadilla de Carne – Pastry filled with savory ground beef
  • Empanadilla de Pollo – Pastry filled with seasoned pulled chicken
  • Bacalaítos – Thin, crispy salted codfish pancake

I tried the Pincho con Tostones and it was absolutely wonderful! Well, I may be a little biased, since fried plantains are amongst my favorite food in the world, but hey! They were fantastic!

SeaWorld has managed to draw some big names in the Latin music scene, which will surely attract fans of the genre. These are the upcoming concerts:

  • Grupo Mania (Saturday, May 6)
  • El Gran Combo (Sunday, May 7)
  • Zion y Lennox (Saturday, May 13)
  • Grupo Niche (Sunday, May 14)

Seven Seas Food Festival

The new Latin dishes coincide with the existing Seven Seas Food Festival 11 global markets and their unique Asian, European, North Atlantic, and Polynesian inspired dishes. Next to each outdoor kitchen you can find information and fun facts about the the specific market, which I thought was a nice touch. It is highly recommended to purchase one of the Food & Brew Sampling Lanyards. I got the Food & Brew 10 Item Sampling Lanyard, which lets you sip and taste up to 10 food or drink samples and costs $40 (the 15 Item Sampling Lanyard costs $50) .

My top picks were:

Grilled Lamb Chop Marinated with Rosemary Mint and Served with Roasted Potatoes and Greek Tzatziki Sauce at Mediterranean Market (4).  The lamb chop was tender and the greek tzatziki sauce worked perfectly with the roasted potatoes – yummy! You can try the Blue Lemonade (Non-Alcoholic) that adds sweetness and goes well with this dish.

If you prefer to have fish – the Smoked Cured Salmon with Potatoe Cake & Topped with Sweet Dill Mustard  is a also a good choice.  The Mediterranean Market is one of the best Markets in the event. It’s not by chance that it is positioned in the Sea of Mystery zone at SeaWorld which is home to the amazing Mako roller coaster (not to be missed!).

Banana Frosted Cheesecake Cones – Banana & Caramel Cheesecake Served in a Waffle Cone Topped with Whipped Cream & Caramelized Bananas at North Atlantic Market (5). Oh boy, what can I say.. it’s great! This mouthwatering dessert is served is a cone like package, which makes it unique and memorable (and fun to eat!!). It’s not too sweet and very well balanced.

Nitrogen infused Kettle Corn with Chocolate Chips at Pacific Coast Market (7) – It is as fun to see how this delectable treat is being made as it is to eat it. The nitrogen creates an impressive smoke effect and the popcorn is served cold. With the added chocolate chips, it’s great and sweet! I would go to the Pacific Coast Market just to see how these treats are made, even if you don’t intend to try it (and you should haha).

The taste of Adventure

The Seven Seas Food Festival certainly delivers with its selection of versatile dishes from around the globe. With the addition of Latin inspired menu and concerts – this is the best time to visit! Did I mention Mako is one of the best roller-coasters out there? Have fun! 🙂
