Your next theme park vacation will be like no other. There are some incredible trends that even the casual vacationer should know about!

Past Theme Park Vacations

In the past, you flew or drove to the theme park, bought tickets and roamed around for a few days. You had no idea what you were getting into, other than via word-of-mouth and whatever you saw on TV commercials. The theme park vacation was a “hit or miss” experience – sort of like trying to hit a homerun on one pitch.

Today – The Changing Theme Park Vacation

Disney is putting the finishing touches on a $1 billion (!!) investment in technologies that are already changing the face of the theme park vacation. These technologies enable park visitors to reserve everything in advance – from attractions to restaurants to the best spot at the evening parade and fireworks show. Every major theme park has recently completed or is now implementing the same types of changes.

As of a few years ago, you could order a table at a park restaurant. Today, you can order your meal and it will be waiting for you when you sit down at the table. Disney is testing this feature at parks now. The trend is clear – deeper experience planning and customization. In the past, you planned your theme park visit at the “level of the forest” and today you can plan it at the “level of the trees.” What you see now is a work in progress – major changes are afoot.

Future Theme Park Planning Trends

A six year old and an 18 year old separately get on the same ride. How in the world can Disney – or any theme park – please both of them? The same multimedia experience will likely bore one and be too much for the other. In the future, theme parks will offer a personalized experience based on *you*, the theme park visitor.
